About the Artist

John Leon is a sculptor who works primarily in bronze, stone, and wood. Since 1980 he has created awards, plaques, portrait busts, and monuments for public, private, and corporate patrons, and a large body of personal works totaling over six hundred bronzes, forty carvings in stone & wood, and untold works in gypsum, ceramics, resin, & steel that can be found in various collections on five continents.

Among his many clients have been: the Universities of Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio; Cincinnati Open Tennis, Pyramid hill Sculpture Park and Arboretum; the cities of Polson, Montana, Carbondale, Pennsylvania, and Vandalia, Ohio; the Fort Lupton, Colorado Fire department; Procter and Gamble; Leidos; the Cincinnati Reds, Alabama Military, and Alabama Women’s Halls of Fame; the Cincinnati Zoo.

He is the son of Greek immigrant parents and a lifelong resident of Cincinnati. He is a Walnut Hills High School alumnus, and he attended the University of Cincinnati college of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, and the Cincinnati Art Academy where he taught stone carving from 2003-2009. He is an exhibiting member of the National Sculpture Society and the of Cincinnati Art Club, and has been featured in American Artist and Sculptural Pursuit magazines.
